Winners at Kocaeli Rally

 

We won the Ford Otosan Kocaeli Rally; the home rally for our team and main sponsor! Last year on our first event on gravel with the S2000 we were able to finish second overall. This year we made it one better.

 

Ford Otosan Kocaeli Rally is the final gravel round of the Turkish Rally Championship. It was held between the 13th and 14th of September on the seaside city of Kocaeli. This rally is especially important for our team since Ford is the main sponsor and winning here is certainly something special. We started the event on the 13th with a very warm athmosphere in Outlet Center. We had a total of 10 special stages to tackle before the end of the event. however the hot weather conditions and relatively low average speeds on the stages meant this event was much tougher on our bodies.

Before the rally we wanted to be on the podium because we wanted to make sure a Ford car wins the event. It was a really close battle with Yagiz and our teammate Murat all weekend long, bu we took the lead on the 8th stage and held until the finish. Our winning margin on the final stage was 9 seconds. I would like to thank our team manager Serdar Bostancı, our support team, Teknik Motorspor, Ford, Castrol, Pirelli and all our co-sponsors for giving us the opportunity to achieve this great result.

The next and final round of the championship is Hitit Rally which will be held on the tarmac stages in Ankara. See you then.
